Additional Information
The iconic Smith & Wesson 10 Revolver has set the standard for double/single action 6-shot revolvers for more than 100 years. Known for legendary performance and worldwide popularity, the model 10 was previously known as the Smith & Wesson .38 Hand Ejector Model of 1899, the Smith & Wesson Military & Police, or the Smith & Wesson Victory Model.

This reliable, no-frills revolver has served as police sidearms all over the world and is still a great choice for self-defense. Few guns have served as long as the Model 10 .38 Special and remained unchanged in essential detail.

The commercial Model 10 has seen tweaks and revisions over the decades, often characterized by a dash with a number after the base model. This particular 10-5 version began production in 1962 with a change in sight width from 1/10" to 1/8" on standard barrels.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What I was looking for. I’d been wanting an older model 10 for awhile. Was wanting a bull barrel version, but figured I’d take what I could get in the current market. Cosmetically, mine is about the same as the one pictured. WELL worn, but the barrel is in good shape and it locks up as tight as my newer revolvers. Good trigger in single and double action. Only knock is the hammer spur. When they say it’s been cut and might be sharp, they aren’t kidding. I’ll be doing some filing to round it off. Still plenty long for single action, but not comfortable. It’s not a beauty, but I wouldn’t expect a surplus 50+ year old revolver to be a showpiece. Very serviceable, and a nice addition for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good working gun Fired it today, shot fine, almost no finish, more brown than blue. Grips are trash but I expected that. Also no single action but the timing and lockup seem good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No complaints I'm happy with Gander, it was sent to my local FFL in a timely fashion and the pictures of it were more or less accurate with the grips being extremely worn and it needing a rebluing, but I didn't see a spec of rust and the moving parts were in good condition. Only 4 stars as I would like to have seen more pictures since this is a used firearm, will definitely shop with Gander again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of Life Left Fairly typical police service revolver, Carried a lot but shot little. Less than 50% of original finish, remaining and lots of light surface rust, battered and worn right grip panel from banging into stuff while holstered but pristine bore and chambers. Lots of scratches but no deep corrosion pits. All-original gun that had not been messed with other than a crudely bobbed hammer. Needed a diamond file to round the rough hammer edges to make thumb cocking practical. Good action timing and measured single action trigger pull of 3 pounds, double action 7 pounds. Target groups under 2-1/2" diameter at 25 yards (rested) about an inch high and an inch left of center with 140 grain standard velocity ammunition and 148 grain wadcutters fired from a rested position. Shoots an inch higher with 158 grain service loads. Not bad for a 50+ year old service sidearm, but that is what to expect from these rugged Smith & Wesson revolvers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great option for a fair priece I'm really pleased with this revolver. Bluing is pretty good, I would say 90%, albeit with surface scratches. Gun shows very little use, almost no wear on not exposed parts. The grips are VERY worn out with almost no checkering and varnished. Mechanically is exceptional, the trigger is unreal! The hammer spur is a bit sharp but not horrible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Great value for what I paid. There was some bluing rubbed off near the muzzle and the grips were pretty worn but i figured as much for a gun in that price range. Other then that a solid handy gun with a great double action trigger.
