Rated 1 out of 5 by from T 10108 Fishermen 25 Installed the product on the boat, wich was easy enough given the instructions. Took the boat out the next day with some high winds reported . Set up on a small submerged reed bed tried to let the anchor down and the motor on the Trac Fishermen 25 just stopped. Never started again. Oh and by the way THE PHONE NUMBER THAT TRAC PROVIDES IN ALL THE LITERATURE THEY SEND WITH THE PRODUCT IS NO LONGER IN SERVICE....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from trac fisherman 25 amnchor winch ( 79585) extremely well designed.. i would make one change on it though.. the plate that mounts infront of the motor section.. i would make the plage a little longer and made so can fit under the motor mount and bolted to the boat there instead of bolting seperatly..some boats have a lip where it would mount and needs spacers to even it out.. if this plate would slide udner motor mount , those 4 bolts would be more then enough to hold both.. also add line that heaver so wont break and loose anchore if in rough wind or water.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Simple and useful The Screws in the plastic cover were striped by being put in too tight at the mfg. Were also rusted on the inside where they were threaded into the bracket.Had to drill one out and re-tap the threads and go purchase other stainless screws to replace the bad ones. After that everything else was basic and easy to do. Anyone without the right tools and know how would have sent it back for a replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why did I wait! I have a Tracker Grizzly 20 foot boat I installed two one on the bow and the stern. I chose not to install the remote switch, because technically you should secure the anchor with the retaining cable, so I said hey got to unhook that so I have to go up there anyway. I cut me a push stick for the buttons, the winch powers down and up holds the boat in place. I wished that I had purchased these sooner. I use two 18 lb river anchors as well. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aviod tangles and mess Fits neatly on the bow deck and takes up no room. Keeps the anchor line neatly spooled so there is no trip hazards and no tangles. Releases the anchor with a push of a button and brings the anchor up just as easy. I have a 17 foot Aquasport and this is a great addition to my boat. This was a Christmas Gift from my sons. So far its the most practicle gift I have received.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why did I wait so long? I installed this unit on a small aluminum v-hull fishing boat. I live in Kansas where the wind almost always blows and deploying my 10# anchor by hand to keep me from getting blown to shore was cumbersome. Now, with the push of a button I can deploy the anchor from the comfort of my seat (I bought the remote) and don't need to tie it off to a cleat to hold me in place.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Anchor Winch with Good Power I mounted this on the front of my 14' deep v and also wired up the auxiliary controller. This way the person in the front of the boat can use the controls on the winch, and I can use the controller in the rear of the boat without ever getting up. It took me maybe 2 hours to properly mount everything and run the wiring. I tested it with a 4 day fishing trip, dropping the anchor in anywhere between 3' - 25' of water and it never missed a beat. The motor is very powerful and easily pulled the 10lb anchor up through weeds and all kinds of crap. The only caveat is, as with any anchor winch, be mindful of keeping slack out of the anchor line or you'll get a bird's nest of rope in the winch. Really liked this one though and may buy another some day to put on the back of my boat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Trac Winch Very low powered winch. Any weeds on anchor and you have to help the winch pull. Even using a very light Danforth anchor this winch is way under powered.

My anchor rope is wrapped around the cam. I can't get it loose.what do you suggest ?

Asked by: Jdminoc
If you can't reverse the line to loosen it, then you may unfortunately have to cut the line.

It says it's good for mushroom anchors and river anchors. What is the difference between those anchors and a galvanized slip ring anchor. Is it imperative that I use a river anchor? Just want to be sure to order the right stuff. Thanks so much for your he

Asked by: electrovan
As long as your galvanized slip ring anchor is under 25 pounds, this winch will be able to support it. The main difference between a mushroom/river anchor and a galvanized slip ring anchor is shape and size. Mushroom/river anchors are smaller, more compact, and have a domed shape like an inverted mushroom. A galvanized slip ring anchor is bigger and bulkier, and it has sharper edges that could cut and scratch your boat when left dangling over the side when in use with this winch. However, as long as the anchor is under 25 pounds, you'll be ok to use it with this winch.

What is the strength of the 3/16 " rope?

Asked by: Sisko
Since this is an anchor winch you need to know that this winch has a 25 lb. max. anchor capacity. That is the strength of the line. This product states that it is suitable for a boat up to 21 feet long. So a 20' smokercraft boat is less than 21' long. It would be plenty suitable for that boat also. There are not any accessories available for this anchor winch that will aid in recovering the line, because we have not heard of the winch having problems in doing this. If there were to become a problem with it we can tell the supplier that something needs to be done. We are on our third year of selling this product though and never heard of a line recovery problem yet.
