Summit Viper SD Climbing Treestand, Mossy Oak is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Summit Viper SD climbing tree stand purchase I purchased this climber for its portability and ease of use. I have climbed with it 6 times now during gun season. As advertised the stand is very light and somewhat quieter than a metal stand due to the sound deadening treatment of the aluminum tubing. Due to its light weight it is a little tippy for my taste, however, it does affix itself to the tree bark with some aggressive teeth. I wouldn't climb with this stand on a tree that you would ever want to look at afterwards. Finally, the stand I received was damaged in transit but Gander Mountain has promised a partial refund so I will continue to use the stand as the damage is cosmetic and not structural. Aluminum is a soft material and you need to keep that in mind over the course of a lifetime of use (I am hoping that this stand will stand the test of time...no pun intended), Gander Mountain stands by the products it sells and that is always important to their customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Summit Viper SD Stand I purchased this stand last hunting season. Not as loud as other stands due to the sound dampening on the aluminum. Climbs pines and oaks great with gnarly teeth. Feels secure when sitting in it and that helps you focus on the hunt.

Will the Summit 6 Channel Platform foot rest work with this stand?

Asked by: Redwood22
No, the 6 channel foot rest will not work on the Summit Viper SD Climbing Treestand. The 6 channel works on the TItan and 180 Max. The Viper and other stands use the 4 and 5 channel foot rest.

Contrary to Specialist Mari, I don't see how you can shoot a bow sitting down from this stand unless it is a crossbow.

Does the front bar fold out of the way, or is it permanently fastened?

Asked by: Jlshunts
The front bar is fixed and does not fold out of the way. For bow hunting I keep the top part of the stand lower than when I am rifle hunting to allow for the clearance needed to shoot the bow.

Does this stand fold to any sort of back pack for travel to destination. I see in the video the guy has it on his back. Not sure if he has it bungeed to another back pack, can't tell.

Asked by: Gene
