Additional Information
The Legion series from SIG Sauer is painstakingly engineered and enhanced for the discerning few with the same warrior spirit that inspired it. The Legion upgrade on the P229 starts with an enhanced action that features SIG's Short Reset Trigger. The P226 frame has been updated with a solid steel guide rod; a reduced and contoured Elite beavertail; a low-profile slide catch and decocking levers; and enhanced checkering on the front strap and under the trigger guard. The frame is relieved under the trigger guard as well, creating a more comfortable, ergonomic grip. The attached grip panels are custom G-10 grips from Hogue that are heavily checkered for a firm hold. SIG's Electro-Optics X-Ray sights are designed to provide high visibility in the day and the night. The included Grayguns intermediate reach trigger is adjustable for added precision. The frame and slide are both finished with a Legion Gray PVD that protects against wear. Three magazines are included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great gun.40 cal got this gun little over 3yrs ago, shot pretty much daily for 18 months, high ammo count. used for everyday carry, teaching, training courses and it haven't failed yet. any and failure to fire/eject came down to ammo, not the gun. the finish shown the wear of a gun used as it was intended, to train for the worst day of my life, a day that may never come,a day that a life may be taken. i dont train for sport, but to defent and protect., how much shooting thru it?....23000 plus. also own a legion 229 40 cal..(6000 rnds thru it) and legion 229 9mm...(35000 rnds thru it). only thing i have to do to then is been recoil springs replaced every 2500 rounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent First Impression! I bought this for home defense about 2 months ago and WOW! It is my first gun purchase and I couldn’t have made a better choice. As a first time gun owner I was AMAZED at the accuracy. The trigger is BUTTER! The reset is INSANE. For a newbie shooter like me to have such tight groups at 10 yards while firing relatively fast is very surprising. I have put over 2500 rounds through her without a single hiccup. It eats EVERYTHING, brass, aluminum case, new, reloaded.... EVERYTHING. I can’t imagine it being very concealable so I’ll probably go for a P365 XL as my next purchase. The P226 Legion is worth EVERY PENNY.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite 9M By Far Okay... I have owned and loved this awesome pistol for over 2 years now. Sig launched the Legion series right when I was wanting to upgrade contents of my range bag. I had owned my sig 1911 in 45 for about a year... love it as well but since is a polished and engraved model, I just don’t want to put too many rounds through it. So, after renting the range’s 226 a couple times, I went for it. I have had the best 2 years of shooting in my life. This past year, I found the Legion caliber exchange for the 226 with the reflex site. Yup... I did it. I now have the best of everything for the range outshooting all my buddies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful, ergonomic, ACCURATE firearm! I finally purchased a Sig Sauer and the wait for the P226 Legion has ruined me for any other manufacturer or Sig models. The G10 grips immediately welcomed my hands. The trigger is crisp and the undercut recess in the trigger guard facilitates a high, focused grip. The DA shot does require focus to be on point for my target, but the SA reset ensures a quick and accurate follow up shot. Steel plates were consistently falling at 15 yards. On paper, close to single hole shots were not uncommon. So far, 250 rounds with no issues. She is expensive, but so very worth the price. 229 Legion is next!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great firearm. My wife bought me this firearm for my birthday. So shout out to the best wife ever. I took it to the local range and ran a few hundred rounds through it right away. And also a few weeks later. Each time it ran perfect no matter what I was shooting. There’s so much I really enjoy in the pistol. I’ll start with the way it fits in your hand, it’s so natural. There’s no readjusting no seating for a better grip, it’s right there. Next is my favorite thing about it the trigger both as da and sa it’s the simply the best. Very smooth and responsive, really helped with accuracy. And finally the finish it’s a beautiful well made gun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Battle Pistol PROs: very accurate, and precise. Butter smooth trigger, like wet glass! Great sights and overall handling and feel. Also looks sexy. CONs: scratches easily. If this is a show piece or safe queen - you're good. It'll be everything you need it to be. If you use this piece for practice/home defense or carry when going to feed the livestock or traveling for example, you will scratch it. If you want it to stay pretty, don't use it, if you want an amazing pistol to defend life with, practice and use it, I trust it....just don't expect it to do both. -1 on quality for coating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Having had this gun for a number of months now and sending at least 1000 rounds downrange I can say arguably this is the perfect handgun. It fits my hand perfectly (I have large wide hands) but, it also fits my younger son his hands perfectly much smaller hands than I do. I have no idea how they do it! The accuracy is off the charts. This gun makes me look like a much better shooter than I really am. We have not had one single issue with this gun. No FTEs, no FTL’s and we have run all kinds of ammo through it. This thing will eat anything you throw at it and send it down range accurately! Our model is the SAO and it is one of the sweetest triggers there is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new EDC I picked up my Legion from a pawn shop in “like new” condition. It had been well cared for and appeared to be unfired and brand new. I immediately took it to the range and lobbed 500 rounds of target ammo down range with it. the pistol performed remarkably well right off the shelf without adjustment or modification. I did end up making a very small windage adjustment to the front sight because it drifted to the left about 2 inches at 40 yards. After making the sight adjustment, one could easily circumcise a gnat at 40 yards with this pistol and be able to do it consistently and reliably without malfunction mag after mag.

is this a SAO pistol? the photo you have is of a Double/single action pistol. this is a photo of the SAO pistol. you can tell that it has a safety on the frame. http://legionseries.com/p226-sao-legion/

Asked by: lonk
My photo here shows the DA/SA model with decocker. There IS a SAO version with a safety (in 9mm only), but MY screen above does not show that model.

Is there a model of this pistol that is SAO? Also, does it come in .45 caliber?

Asked by: Willie
The SIG Sauer P226 Legion Handgun does not come in a .45 ACP version, and the only SAO models are 9mm.
