Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only game in town for aluminum boats After dong a lot of research I came to the conclusion that this product is about the only game in town for keeping your bare aluminum boat from oxidizing- once intialy cleaned. It's not a wax but an actual clear coating that can be easily touched up if needed. It's supposed to last for a few seasons. You can remove with Laquer thinner and reapply product in just that section if damaged. It does say on the container that it shouldn't be used on anodized aluminum. I bought a pint and it did my entire 15 Gregor Bass boat- topsides and bottom. Wear eye protection especially if you do the bottom of the hull.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pontoon Protectant This product must be used after polishing of pontoons or rapid oxidation will take place. This product is the last part of pontoon cleaning. Begin with the acid wash, then sanding, then buffing/polishing and cleaning with laquer thinner, then this product to protect the finish. Once polished and this product applied the pontoons do look new with almost a mirror like finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I used this last year on my 25ft. pontoon. I only put 1 coat on. It was so easy to apply. I was very surprised. I got the sharkhide out this year @ read that I was supposed to put 2 coats on, so I will do it again. Product goes further than you think with no mess. [...]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so Good My husband applied two coats to the pontoons on our boat after having polished them for weeks. It looks brand new. We haven't put it in the water yet but will pretty soon. Weather is warming up nicely. I'll let everyone know how it does by mid-season. He left the back of one of the pontoons as it was so he can compare after the season is over.

Will this prevent Algae and Zebra muscles from growing on aluminum pontoons?

Asked by: mx41
No. This is not an anti-fouling paint. You will need a true bottom paint product to prevent algae and other marine growth.

Can you use boat paint over this protectant?

Asked by: Rick
No. I wouldn't advise to paint over Sharkhide or any other material for that matter. No paint type material should be applied over anything other than the primer that the paint company recomends.
