Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy! This is the first rifle I've owned. It's a great buy! The quality is better than I expected. The reviews are great but I read that the stock felt light but I think this rifle has a nice solid feel. The scope is accurate out of the box. It is probably the cheapest scope you can buy and I'll probably eventually purchase a better scope. Ammo is very reasonable for target shooting. I'm very happy with this rifle and highly recommend it, especially for a beginner shooter who is looking for a less expensive rifle package. I don't think you can get a better deal. Great gun!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love this 22 semi-auto This is my first 22 rifle that I have owned. Ive used shotguns for target practice/small game before,But I have to tell you I really love it. Rounds are really cheap and it is fun to shoot. The only drawback to this gun is the cheap scope they put on it, I went and bought a better one. Also this gun is picky with what ammo you shoot in it. Would not shoot cheap bulk ammo, would jam up one round for every clip load. But I understand that most semi-auto 22's are picky at which ammo you can shoot. Just stay away from the really cheap stuff and you should be ok.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gun!! I bought this gun about 8 months ago. I was looking for a 1st gun and i knew a .22 was the way to go. I was looking at it for a while and decided to get it. I was not disappointed!. i shot it the first time with the iron sights and it was accurate up to about 15 yards for me ( first time shooter). The scoope that came with it is very cheap. I bought a Tasco red dot sight and that improved accuracy up to 50 yards. i have put almost 1000 rounds thru it and only had a few misfires and a few stove pipes. All with Federal Ammo. Its a really good 1st gun!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good little gun..BUT........ It's a great little gun, the barrel is typical Savage accuracy. However the action leave something to be desired. Very simple to operate, however after running close to 1000 rounds through mine, the bolt is catching on the back of the magazine and it won't cycle. The bolt beats the heck out of your magazine and will quickly wear out. I recommend saving your money to get the nicer Savage bolt action .22 with an accutrigger and less wear and tear on your magazine IMO. You get what you pay for I guess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great gun This is a great gun, I shot over 1000 rounds and have only a few misfired, all misfired were winchester rounds. Now I am using federal with no problem. The gun is so accurate I could shoot 200 rounds through the same 1 inch hole in the target at 50 yrds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Haven't owned a .22 rifle in 30 years. Kids bought me this for Christmas 4 days ago. I disassembled (per the manual) right out of the box to inspect the lube. It's not a big deal to break down for cleaning. Installed the provided scope, and put about 50 rounds on paper indoors. It was accurate enough for what I intend. Did have 2-3 failure to feeds with Federal ammo; not sure if that was due to my boy shooting or something else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice rimfire rifle Nice little plinker...scope nothing to write home about, I added a 4x32 Bushnell, much better. Wished it came with 2 clips, no problem can get from Savage Arms. I ordered and received 4 to give me total of 5. Good looking, light weight and nicely balanced. You can't go wrong purchasing this rifle....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Should have bought a Ruger 10/22 bought this less than 1 month ago..havent gotten to fire 200 rds through it..every magizine it jams..every 2 or 3 rds it jams..tried 3 different mags and all perform the same..I am very meticulous about my equipment so the gun hasnt been abused..I have more bent/junk rds than I have good ones..unacceptable..it would probably work well as a boat anchor.

is this a fairly loud 22. also can you get a Silencer

Asked by: aj
If one is a left-handed shooter, any rifle would sound loud. If you are shooting indoors, the report would also be loud, (one should always wear hearing protection when firing any firearm multiple times). If one is shooting while standing in front of a rock wall, the sound would be amplified, especially if in a corner. If one is standing next to the shooter, standing 3' behind and slightly to the left would be the quieter.

would it be a good rifle to start with

Asked by: e
The Savage Model 64 is a perfect begineers rifle. To start off it is fairly cheap at ~$160. Then this rifle is .22 LR a great begineers round not to powerfull and not to deadly great target round. This system will let you get the feel for rifles get adjusted to how to handle one properly then of course once you buy one you have to have more.
