Additional Information
The B.Mag isn't simply a re-chambered version of an existing platform; Savage designed this rimfire rifle specifically to handle the high velocities of the 17 Winchester Super Magnum with design features typically reserved for their centerfire rifles. In order to maximize accuracy in this long-range shooter, the B.Mag utilizes Savage's thread-in-barrel headspacing system, rear-locking lugs, and a cock-on-close bolt capped off with the light, crisp AccuTrigger. It has a flush-fit center-feed rotary magazine. The B.Mag also has a soft rubber buttpad and hidden action-screws in a lightweight, black synthetic one-piece stock.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wait for a better design to come out... I bought the rifle to hunt coyote's. I don't have to many positive things to say about the rifle. I believe this rifle is poorly designed. Here's why: (1) Stock does not feel like good quality (2) Trigger assembly appears to be loose. Not very tight. (3) The bolt is absolutely terrible. It is not smooth at all. Locking the bolt requires a good amount of pressure. (4) Strange safety mechanism that will drive you insane. When you initially load your 1st cartridge into the chamber, you will have to open the bolt once more in order to engage the firing pin so that you may fire the rifle whenever you decide to shoot. You can't load a round, pop the safety on fire, and fire a round. Nothing will happen. Why couldn't they use a standard safety??? (5) Rounds jam and do not feed smoothly into chamber on a average basis. (6) Expect 1-1.5 inch groups with frequent fliers. I used the Winchester HV 20 gr varmint bullet only (7) Overall a very complicated to use rifle. Wait for a better design to come out or different manufacturer to develop model. The round is very impressive but there needs to be a better rifle.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I was really excited when I first heard about this gun, but when I finally got to see one in real life I was highly disappointed by the action of the gun. The bolt is very rough opening and closing and was a major turn off for me. Other than this it was lightweight and would be a good caliber to have. Hopefully another company will make a better quality gun for this caliber

Rated 1 out of 5 by from piece of garbage the first defective rifle I got seemed to be made completely of rejected parts, cycled impossible hard and was inaccurate. sent that one back only to get another smoother cycling but horribly inaccurate, it was factory tested for accuracy too. after several returns and testing the full spectrum of .17wsm ammo after each return (very costly btw) and more than a year trying to get it to shoot well I called it quits. this was my first savage purchase and my last.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Savage B-Mag .17 WSM Purchased the gun about 2 months ago. I'm using the Winchester WSM 20gr shell. The LGS mounted a Simmons 3x9x40 8pt. scope. My first trip to the range went ok and at 50 yds my groups could be covered with a quarter. My 100 yds group wasn't so good and there were some flyers but still a positive experience. The second time to the range my 100 yd groups were much better and my 50 yd groups could be covered with a dime. Very satisfied at this point. My third trip to the range took me back to wider groups at 100 yds but still tight groups at 50 yds. I hadn't cleaned the gun up to this point but now have and am anxious to get back to the range. I had a couple shells not eject and had to pull them out. I had 1 misfire, I ejected it, put it back in and then it fired. Overall I'm satisfied with my purchase realizing for under $400 I have a pretty good gun for squirrels, turkeys, groundhogs, etc.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Needs improvement Consistent difficulty cycling the bolt, could also benefit from a longer bolt handle with a better angle-had to go with oversized ring spacers to keep bolt from hitting scope. The rotary magazine has cheap feel and difficult to load. Accuracy is good, will be great for sniping crows & coyotes, but overall Dissapointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent firearm & cartridge Recommend that you read manual before taking apart. The bolt doesn't remove by pulling trigger and the action uses Allen wrench for removal. Be very careful with barrel if you are target practicing cause it gets really hot, really fast! This should be a great varmint round/gun and I predict that with more ammo makers, this will make the other .17 rimfires go by the way of the dodo bird. I just shot it right out of the box, didn't have to make any adjustments to the trigger. speaking of the trigger, if you don't pull the trigger directly back, it will not fire and you have to recock the bolt. took me a few do-overs before I figured out why it wasn't firing (again, read the manual) My buddy in Montana loves it and am recommending the gun & cartridge to everyone. I didn't rate how durable cause I just don't know yet. I'm really glad I purchased this rifle, would do it all over again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic new rifle and cartridge combo Rifle shoots great. Ammo is a bit hard to come by but is priced attractively. Third Savage rimfire and all are very accurate - priced very fairly. I use it primarily to target shoot out at 125 yards. I really like the light weight and portability of this rifle. Cartridge is a little powerhouse. I look forward to a wood stocked version of this gem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun to shoot! Savage did a really good job building this rifle! I have only shot 50 rounds, but it shoots SUB-MOA!!!! I cant wait for a heavy barrel version with a wood stock! Ammo is available, you just have to take the time to find it. Gander IS NOT to blame. look at your neighbor if you wonder why there is an ammo shortage, or look in your own safe!!!
