Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again and have. We bought this cast iron cooking iron for a friend that had never heard of them My wife and I have one and loved it. They have since used their on their grill to make fruit pies and are extremely happy with it. We use ours while camping and make pies for the grandkids over an open campfire. It is usually the highlight of the evening/trip. We like the long handles that helps keeps your hand far away from the actual open fire. A real nice safety feature. It is a favorite product of ours. We have since given them to our adult children as gifts for them to use when they go camping with their friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from must have for camping These are so versitile for camping! You can cook just about anything! Sandwiches, pies, eggs, you name it! We went on a camping trip and everyone wanted to purchase one after seeing ours. I personally much prefer this round pudgy pie iron to the square double sandwich iron (which is only a few dollars more & so better bang for your buck) , because it seels the edges so much better. Who wants the crusts anyways?! It seems very heavy duty & I can tell it will last for years to come. You do have to season it before use... but that was easy enough over the campfire. It is very important to season it well. My friends had the double and didn't season it very well and all of their sandwiches stuck to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MMM pudgy pies! This is the best thing you could get someone who loves the outdoors and camping. Its all you need for cooking as long as you have a fire. you can cook just about anything in it. before i got this one i bought a couple cheaper aluminum ones and one didnt even make it to the fire with my first pudgy pie pizza the other one broke on its second outing (didnt get them at gander). spend a little more and get alot more it doesnt get any better than this. i could go for a apple pudgy right now. MMMMMMMM

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT COOKING TOOL We have given this as a gift to friends and family with rave reviews. After seeing our pie irons "in action" for the first time they were a must have by our "Camping Family". They are so awesome and loved by all that there are even cookbooks with very tasty recipes you can only make using a pie iron. The reasonable price lets our family of 6 each have their own to enjoy. My favorite saying is a true camper has a pie iron.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only Pie Maker worth owning We had a large group at the KOA camp ground and everyone brought out their pie makers. One had the square one, great for grilled cheese but doesn't make pies, just two pieces of hot bread with filling dripping out. Second had the double square, great for making two grilled cheese, but a hot mess with pies. Third had aluminum square that just scorched black and didn't seal edges. We had the round. We seasoned by heating empty then adding a blob of butter and shaking it around. After that, just butter the bread, add the filling and close. Knock off the corners and the pie is sealed and comes out like pie crust that can be held in one hand (after they cool ). They heat evenly and quickly. We made two at a time in about a minute or so by placing in the coal bed and everyone loved them and will be ordering the round ones for next camping trip. The square ones would be good for omlets or hot sandwiches but if you are only being one, get the round.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bought for the Kids...LOVE THESE I love these. My cousin has them and my kids used them breakfast, lunch and dinner when camping. I bought them each one for Christmas. I received them quickly and they are as impressive as I remember. Very sturdy yet easy to handle for my kids (10yr - 13yr). I am sure we will be making pudgy pies by the fire on Christmas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Camping Food My husband and I both grew up using pie irons and knew we wanted them for our own family. Originally we could only find the square ones. Here we finally found the perfect round cast iron ones. Durable, makes a better sandwich than the square and solidly built. Love to introduce these to all new campers.

What kind of bread do you use? The dimensions seem to be larger than a piece of white bread. I have had these in the past and I know the slices of bread have to be larger than the pudgy pie maker.
