Additional Information
With continually evolving designs, rugged dependability, great pointing characteristics and versatility, the Model 870 has been the standard for slide-action performance for almost 60 years. Beneath the no-nonsense, ready-for-work exterior of the Model 870 Express lies the same quality, precision, and dependability that you'll find in Remington's legendary Model 870 Wingmaster, but at a much more affordable price. Like all Model 870 shotguns, this workhorse features a receiver milled from a solid billet of steel for maximum strength and reliability. The silky-smooth twin action bars prevent binding and twisting so that you'll always have the chance to get off a second shot. The virtually indestructible synthetic version of the 870 Express has a butt stock and forend that stay dimensionally stable, and won't swell or crack due to weather extremes. The stock and all metalwork have a black matte non-glare finish. This 12-gauge model features an 18" barrel with a fixed cylinder choke and a single bead sight and holds up to 7 rounds of ammunition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just a fantastic shotgun all around, We bought this shotgun from the lake mary store from a salesman by the name of clay. I was looking for a tactacal shot gun and he showed us this one . this was the best looking and best priced shotgun with all the equipment it came with. My girlfriend put 8 rounds though a target at 20 feet (and never had shot a shotgun before). So far we have put a hundred or so rounds though this gun with ease. Great shotgun well made

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't Beat it for the Money! This a great gun! It is solid and runs through ammo like nobody's business without hesitation or misfire of any kind so far. Classic Remington! The synth stock is awesome and feels perfect. Smooth action all around. For the money it does not get any better than this plus there are so many things that can be added to this sucker to personalize to your taste but it's bad Axx right out of the box! I love mine!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A friend for home Bought my first weapon for home defense. Remington Model 870 was the choice. Took it to the range and fired it to get a feel for it's power and effectiveness. I was not disappointed. The Model 870 is affordable and would make an excellent choice as a first weapon purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The "No Worries" Shotgun Purchased in-person at the 'Mountain in Lake Mary, FL. Excellent Store and Staff. Dana Williams is the man to help you. For the money, this is an amazing shotgun you can depend on. It has accessories included that would run the cost up if you added them later. The Ghost-Ring sights and the Brake/Standoff on the end are great. That end is both functional and intimidating. The build is solid and the action is smooth. The Rem 870 is one that has a lot of accessories available, so you can really have fun making it "yours". Out of the box the only things I don't care for: The barrel clamp on the front and its swivel, and the stock. The clamp is just basic clamp - I've seen some beefier and more low-drag looking ones - some with little rails on them. The swivel is rattly. The stock is black, has a rubberized grip area, rubber buttpad, but it has a light, hollow feel. It's fine for the money, but not one to fight with if you have to. I will change this ASAP - probably a top-folder or maybe a speed-feed. Might add a shell-holder to the receiver or onto the folding stock. Careful, or you can end up with a lot of weight. The stock makes it four stars, but the gun mechanism itself is easily a big, shiny five stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gun, Great Price I was looking for an entry level home defense shot gun and this is the perfect fit for me. The action is very smooth. I like the short barrel for this application and it is still pretty accurate to shoot even fairly far away. It's hard to go wrong with the 870. Lots of add on available as well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Item Pictured The photo and Remington's description do not match the current item. The magazine tube and front sling attachment are different.

Does this tactical model accept other barrels made for the 870 model shotguns??

Asked by: mrwintr
They used to be identical, however the Express Tactical has made this statement no longer true. No the other 6 billion barrels made for Remington 870's have the soldered support ring just in front of the slide grip, the new tactical has it now placed forward to the end of the magazine tube extension.
