Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rough start but I am pleased now Initial assembly was not possible because the smoker cabinet was missing several threaded inserts preventing installation of the screws. Called customer service to describe the problem and did not reach a knowledgeable person. Suffice to say after two separate repair parts shipments I was able to blacksmith my way to complete assembly. Eighteen months later having smoked a variety of ribs, brisket, chicken, pork etc I am very pleased with the product. My only complaint is the electronic readout is very dim and difficult to read during daylight hours. I find I must get down on my knees and get very close in order to see it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Smoker I've had this smoker for about a month now and it's great so far. It produces excellent tasting food and is easy to use. It gets to temperature pretty quickly and maintains the temperature well (I haven't used it in cold weather yet but it seems to be well insulated). The huge wood chip try and water pan are excellent as they allow you to walk away for awhile without worrying about losing the smoke or the water pan being empty causing dry food. The fact that the temp can go much higher than most smokers is the main reason that I choose this one and it is a great feature to have, especially when doing chicken for nice crisp skin or if you need to crank it up to finish food faster, no need to move it to an oven. It is also nice and easy to load and unload because it sits higher with the legs. Assembly is a pretty involved and takes some time but no big deal. It's a bit odd that the meat thermometer plugs in outside of the chamber, I just insert it into the meat and shut the door with the wire in it to avoid opening the door during use and it still works fine. The good thing about the thermometer plugging in outside is that if it breaks you can simply get a new thermometer to plug in and there are two places to plug in thermometers which is a nice feature. This is a great smoker in my opinion.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Impossibe to make smoke correctly I've had this smoker for a year now. Wanted to give it a fair chance. It is virtually impossible to get this thing to smoke properly, no matter what you put in the tray. I've tried small chips, large chips, packed loosely and packed tightly. Even tried pellets. It just doesn't work as well as it should for a "smoker". I own it now, so I guess I'll start trying to modify it and see if I can make it work. An amazing tube is the only way this thing works, but the smoke is different from chips and harder to find/more expensive. Sorry Pit Boss, but you struck out on this one and probably any other Pit Boss product for me. BTW, I'm no rookie, have and have had quite a few outdoor cookers of various persuasions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly! I have had this in Colorado for a few months, but weather kept me from really using it. After moving to Florida a few months ago, I've been on it quite a bit. Simply love it! I've always wanted an easy-to-use smoker that didn't take up alot of space. This smoker fits the bill. Everything I make in it turns out amazing. Mostly a rib guy, but looking forward to some fresh fish smoking out here. I highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Design Flaw Good Overall Experience ...BUT! After Proper assembly, the door sagged and dragged on the lower unit. I tightened all hinge screws and ended up installing 2 thin flat washers on the hinge pins to correct this problem. Suggestion: PB needs to include these 2 small washers in the kit so that it would save the customer satisfaction and not have to "Hunt Down" washers the right size! Just a Suggestion guys!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My first I bought this about 10 months ago or so. Listed as a 4 rack unit, i received 3 didn't matter much at the time but I would like to have the 4th just in case. The first and second time used it the unit would not properly heat up...and then I figured it out. User error, I need to read the instructions. Anyway finally had to try again, 3rd times a charm. 8.5 lb pork butt - took 14 hours, wasn't fall off the bone so maybe another 2 hours, not sure as we were out of time. I do agree with the fact that the unit doesn't provide enough smoke by using the "Smoke" button just once, i needed to use it several times to keep it smoking, the problem with that is it runs up the temp and throws off the cook time. Could've been that 14 hours may have been enough and heating it up like that made tougher than I expected. Anyway a decent unit, i just recommended the Pit Boss units to a co-worker, I brought in some of the pork butt I smoked over the weekend and he enjoyed it so there ya go...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Smoker continues to blow fuses in my garage the first time I used this smoker it stopped functioning. I was half way through smoking a brisket and went out to check it and the smoker was off. I attempted to reset the fuse in the outlet and it popped the fuse again. I tried 3 different outlets and still would not work. I would not recommend this product.

The temp control is spot on. I recent!y bought a KC Platinum combo and it has been flawless also. Keep those easy to use high quality cookers coming Pit Boss.
