Ok for a boathook...
This is ok for use as a boat hook, not at all durable as an oar. Bent after first use.

Excellent piece of safety gear
All watercraft should have paddles or oars on board for emergency situations. I purchased one of these paddles a couple of years ago for my fishing boat, and now ordered a second one for my second boat. Paddle stows easily, yet extends for full function use. Very well made and sturdy.

failed in first emergency
Purchased two of these for use in possible emergencies when paddles would be needed. Used many times as boat hooks for coming into docks, etc. Fine for that. First time used as paddles they both broke in half and were of no use. Would not purchase again or recommend to anyone.

HAVE NOT HAS TO USE YET
i HAVE NOT HAD TO USE THE PADDLE YET. IT WAS A LITTLE BIGGER THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BUT IT FITS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON THE BAJA. ALSO, THE HANDLE SOMETIMES IS HARD TO PULL OPEN THEN IT WILL GO BACK TO BEING EASY TO OPEN?.

Great item to have
This works as expected, it's long enough to use on the pontoon and short enough for the flats boat. it would be nice if the handle/hook was just a little wider. It locks up nice and solid with no shake.

Good Protection
Don't worry about motor failure and being stranded again. This paddle gives you security, as well as a way to pull items out of the water with the handy hook end.

Great Product for the Money
Product is a great value for the money. Give the flexibility of using it for emergency uses as well as assisting when docking the boat in windy conditions.
