Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great scope and the Nikon ballistics/scope calculator are spot on. I purchased a Nikon refurbished P-223 and I am so pleased I did. I am getting old and need the glass to assist. Zeroing only took a few rounds then we jumped to the dope card and began to shoot out to 500 yards on the local range. The scope is mounted to a S&W M&P, M4 variant. Using OTC LAP we were routinely hitting the targets that the local El Paso Sherrifs use for their training. A 500 yard steel range sign about 2'x2'. The rifle is not sub moa, and not set up for that. The scope is crystal clear and the Nikon program that matches the round to the scope is great for making your dope cards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for tactical AR After sighting this in at 100 yds, I was able to take my AR to a precision rifle shoot and outperform more experienced shooters using bigger rifles and more expensive optics. I didn't even touch my turrets while firing 100 rds between 180 and 775 yds. The BDC reticle allowed me to locate and engage steel plates very quickly. The SpotOn app helps with doping at different magnification settings as well. In 3 gun competitions, I can dial down the magnification and shoot quickly and reliably without worrying about losing my zero or damaging the scope. I absolutely recommend this optic for an AR. I use 62gr ammunition in an 18in barrel, 1-8 twist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Scope! Just installed my P223 3x9 scope on my CVA Apex .223 barrel. Haven't shot it yet but I must say I am very happy with the apparent quality of optics and overall construction. I also have a Nikon Omega on my .50caliber muzzleloader barrel and that is the reason I quickly chose the P223. The Omega scope is fantastic. I've never had a scope with that much eye relief! That's important to me since I have a 12 year old that uses it too, and the last thing I want is for him to give himself a black eye. The Omegas BDC reticle is perfect on my muzzleloader, and I'm pretty sure I'll find the same results with my new P223. I take my hat off to you Nikon guys. Great Job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent scope for the AR15 I bought this scope at the firing range because my cheap red dot had a dead battery when i arrived at the range. The rifle is the Bushmaster AR lightweight. Boy am i glad the battery was dead and the shop was fresh out of batteries. I am now able to get better shots, the red dot was a joke. This scope is so easy to zero in the reticle is very clear and is a tremendous help for accuracy. I'll buy more of these for my other rifles as well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Couldn't hold zero I purchased this scope for my AR15 build because all of the reviews were decent, the scope is really clear, and the BDC has bubbles so you can see the target during acquisition. Took it out a few times and only had to make a few adjustments here and there. On my most recent trip out (5th time using this scope) to the range, the optic would not hold zero. The more I shot the more it moved, and I had to continuously make adjustments. It got so bad that I maxed out the up and down adjustment and it was nowhere near the center of sight picture. I continued to fire using some Kentucky windage, but it continued to move and I could no longer even see where my rounds were impacting through the scope. Sad part was that this was only from 50-100 meters. I am going to see what I can do about returning this scope because I have no purpose for a scope that doesn't work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from P223 scope The scope reticles are for the xm193 with 55gr bullet out of a 20" barrel at 3240 FPS. If using a M4 carbine vel will be less so you to modify the ranges in the scope. Spot on program very good

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nikon Service is excellent!!!! Scope is great, quick and easy to sight in and looks great on my ar. While sighting it in we busted the screw holding the turret cap on and I emailed nikon parts and they emailed back saying it'd be 2 to 4 weeks. Within a week the screw was in and back operating! Thanks a lot

Can this scope be used on a Browning X-Bolt Hunter .243 Win.? Or is it strictly to be used on .223's and ARs?

Asked by: X Bolt Hunter
Yes, the 3-9x40 Nikon P-223 Riflescope will work with any rifle, including the Browning X-Bolt Hunter .243. The only difference between this scope and the standard hunting scopes is the adjustments are exposed in the P-223 and the reticle offers additional aiming/holdover points.

Are there recommended mounts for this scope when used on an AR?

Asked by: Stabler
Yes, the Nikon P-223 Riflescope is the standard two-piece cantilever style mount offered by Nikon for AR rifles. It allows proper height of scope for easy target acquisition as well as access to rifle's charging handle.

Can I use this scope on my 308 caliber deer rifle?

Asked by: otis
Yes. While the BDC 600 was designed to coincide with the ballistic drop of a particular .223 Rem load, the scope (reticle in particular) can be used with virtually any caliber or load. With Spot On Ballistic Match Technology--either on the website or free smartphone app, the user can select this scope and any cartridge and load and get precise aiming points on the reticle. In fact, even with the .223 Rem and the load it was designed for, it is best to use Spot On for best precision. For AR use, be sure to pay attention to the "sight height above bore" as AR scope mounts typically position the scope and reticle higher than the 1.5" height that is the Spot On default. Measuring from the center of the rifle bore to the center of the scope will give you this height.
