The Marmot Featherless Jacket is ideal for a variety of cold-weather activities when constant warmth is a must. Revolutionary 3M Thinsulate Featherless insulation - equal to 700-fill power - is designed to closely mimic the look and performance of natural down with two times the loft when wet and without the allergens. This unique, loose-fill synthetic insulation is every bit as lightweight as natural down, breathes easily, and provides extreme warmth for extreme conditions. State-of-the-art materials and functional design make the Featherless Jacket a jet-setter in thermal technology's upward flight. Angel-Wing Movement allows a full range of motion in the arms so the jacket doesn't ride up. Elastic-bound cuffs and a drawcord-adjustable elastic hem allow for a customized fit. Zip-secure hand pockets and an interior stuff sack zip pocket offer convenient storage for all your essentials. The Featherless Jacket is Zippin compatible with complementing Marmot garments. 100% nylon double mini-ripstop fabric. Regular fit. Weight: 12.3 oz. Imported.

Extremely disappointing
I bought this jacket last winter. Navy color, looks great, keeps me warm. Have worn it maybe 10-15 times. My morning walk to work is approximately 2km. From time to time I carry a light workout bag slung over my shoulder. The back of the jacket where the bag rests is oozing the insulation from every seam and stitch. Makes it look like I have owned it for 20+ years, after wearing it 10-15 times! Very disappointing. My similar The North Face Thermoball jacket has no such issues. Will think long and hard about buying another Marmot jacket.

Great Jacket! - Just not what I wanted.
What I wanted - a lightweight jacket suitable as a mid layer in temps above 25 degrees where conditions are likely too wet for down.
What I got - a reasonably lightweight (16 oz. or so) jacket that fits me well and is suitable for any temperatures a 700 or 800 power fill down jacket can meet. It is heavier than an equivalent down jacket (Marmot Ajax); that’s not what I was expecting. It is well constructed. The location of the hem drawcord on the right side drives me crazy. I’m a righthander and invariably I snag my thumb in the loop for the drawcord. Most annoying! Bottom line? It is warm and comfortable. I just need to adjust my thinking!

Lightweight protection
It's very lightweight and packable--excellent for hiking, travel, or walking in the city. The jacket is quite thin, so we'll see how durable it is longterm. I've worn it in heavy and light rain and water beads off--so far no wetting out of outer fabric and no moisture penetration of the inner laminate. In my regular medium size the jacket is roomy but not unflatteringly baggy, with enough space for layering a fleece or down/synthetic puffy underneath. I also like the slightly longer droptail; it provides extra protection. Only real complaint is sometimes the pit-zips get caught on an inner fabric lip when you're zipping them back up. You have to zip up carefully to avoid snags.

Unreasonably warm!
The subject is somewhat jesting, but true: this thing is warm. Purchased for NOLS and my own hiking in Maryland. The insulation is at least as good as my down puffy jacket, probably a little bit more. I've never felt cold or chilly while out in 20's, often the opposite. Still getting used to using the front zipper to control heat escape to cool down on hikes. Orange color is not quite as brilliant as a hunting jacket, but darn close. You won't be missed by a rescue crew, that's for sure. Everything is very well constructed and robust. Phone pocket in the left-chest is a great addition!

Marmot Featherless Jacket
I'm into my second year with the Marmot Featherless jacket and it is hands down my favorite insulated jacket. I'm extremely pleased with the quality and fit of the jacket and I use it casually, in the backcountry, and skiing out West. On drier cold days I may wear as an outer layer along with a baselayer and fleece vest. This combo keeps me pretty toasty. In the high humidity climate I'm located where rain is commonplace I add a shell to this combo and I'm good to go. I initially bought the black but have enjoyed the jacket so much I also picked up a blue and bomber green on closeout bringing my total to 3. Should last me the rest of my life. Love Marmot quality and fit. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Light, warm, and resistance free when active
Really love this jacket... it flows seamlessly with my torso and arms and is never an interrupting thought while trying to focus on activities like paddle boarding. I've owned far too many jackets that give me the warmth I need but not the additional comfort in mobility that this one does. It also packs up incredibly small because of the unique fiber fill, so it's easy enough to stuff into a backpack without having to contemplate if it's worth the space. Magically Does Everything You Want It To
Light, compressible, nearly weightless, very comfortable on the skin and very warm without being smothering. I wear it in all sorts of conditions and it always seems to be right.
