Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is perfect for beginner or plinkers this is one awesome .22, it shows how a company experienced with .22s produce with this gun, ive shot 4 to 5 thousand rounds out of it and its days are finally numbered. now you must clean it. after about 2,500 rounds it started jamming and not shooting. so clean it real good after about every five hundred rounds, and another thing great about it is all you have to do is unscrew the bottom around the trigger, remove the guard and clean and oil the inside and the barrel, runs like new. super easy to clean the entire inside the gun without field stripping. accurate, reliable shot after shot gun

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best gun you can buy for entertainment this the best, most fun and truly surprisingly good gun. Works flawless after broken-in, does not jam after you run a box through it. Accurate at over 100 with even a beginner using it. Totally best gun to shoot i have to date. girlfriend likes it the best of any gun i own. Totally would buy another one in a heart beat and would suggest to anyone who can't justify buying an over priced 10/22. This is what you need i highly recommend it. just be careful when cleaning/disassembling, i chipped the plastic when trying to put trigger back in.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Control I recieved a Marlin 795 that had the gunsights on the side of the barrel instead of the top. Marlin claims all firearms are checked for safety and accuracy, if that is true, this defect would have been noticed immediately. This rifle is unuseable. If you are buying a Marlin firearm, be sure to check the date of the reviews. Marlin used to be a good company that made quality firearms. Marlin was bought by Remington, part of the Freedom Group, and now produces poor quality firearms with poor customer service. Marlin is no longer a "brand name" firearm. This rifle will never be fired, it is a piece of junk.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from fun plinker bought this on sale, I wanted a cheap plinker and this was one of the lowest priced. Went straight to the range from store(was going there anyway), gave it a quick check over, not dry or too much oil, action was working good, so I ran 50 round through it with no problems. Gave it a look over and ran cleaner through barrel and cleaned in the chamber when got home. Got a 25 round mag and $20 scope installed, sighted in and went to range again and went through 200 rounds. I noticed I was getting metal filings but couldn't find where and gun functioned fine? Took gun completely apart and cleaned really good, not sure where all the filings came from and made me wonder how it even functioned? I think it must have just been really dirty when new. Seems anymore, the first thing you need to do after purchasing a new gun is take it completely apart and clean/oil. That being said, this thing is a blast with a scope and 25 round magazine. the scope is cheap, but and doesn't focus well, but good enough for all 200 rounds in a 9" target at 25 - 30 yards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Picked this one over a Mossberg 702 Both are lightweight semiauto .22's with 10 rd box magazines. The deciding factor was the great 25rd mag that ProMag makes for the Marlin 795. For about $15, this turns an inexpensive Marlin into a 10/22 killer. Also a big plus is the built in sling swivels on the Marlin. If you wanted to put a sling on the Mossberg, it would be more work than I want to deal with on a under $150 plinker. This will make a good truck or ATV gun for me. Thanks Marlin and ProMag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good buy for the money Purchased this at my local Gandermountain store. Was on sale for a great price. Took it home gave it a good cleaning. That was pretty easy as it was quite clean from the factory. Took it to the range and had no FTF or FTE. Did have 3 FTL but only on Federal Lightning ammo. Remmington Thuunderbolts fed fine. Both ammos grouped nicely and worked well. Easily ran 150 rds through it. I am very happy and look forward to getting a scope sighted in on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE THIS LITTLE RIFLE!!! Got this on sale with $25 rebate from Marlin. Shot a brick of Federal Value Pack 36 grains thru it and so far and no FTL, FTF, FTE because I totally field stripped and cleaned it before using. I also fine sand and buff the action and receiver. GREAT LITTLE RIFLE!!! Hours of plinking fun!!! VERY ACCURATE!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome! This is hands down the best .22 auto you can buy for the money. I have owned many others and the only other comparable is the Marlin model 60. It is more accurate out of the box than any other. Unlike the 10/22 where you need to spend twice as much and then another couple hundred to get it to shoot well!

Will the rifle take 22 shorts or birdshot?

Asked by: Ddk55
No, the Marlin Model 795 Rimfire Rifle is not set up to shoot .22 shorts. You can use .22 LR shotshells, but I would advise loading one in the chamber at a time. Sometimes the plastic cover breaks in the magazines, so I would not load them in the magazine.
