Additional Information
The Classic Model 1895 is a tried and true configuration of the famous lever action rifles. The action is as smooth as you've experienced. It's made with six machined and heat-treated steel forgings for greater strength. There is a clean, flat, solid top receiver that not only keeps out the rain, snow and debris, but also makes a perfect base for mounting a scope. The American black walnut pistol grip stock features: a fluted comb, cut checkering, a rubber rifle butt pad, swivel studs, and a tough Mar-Shield finish. The sights are made up of a an adjustable semi-buckhorn folding rear and a ramped front sight with a brass bead and wide-scan hood. The twist rate is 1 in 20". The tubular magazine holds four rounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Texas Deer/Hog Hunter ( .444 Marlin ) I use this rifle (chambered in .444 Marlin), to hunt white-tail deer and wild hogs in the thick brush of East Texas. This rifle has DEVASTATING knock down power with Remington Core-Lokt (240gr) ammo within 150 yards... Also, longer range precision shots can be made with the flatter shooting, even harder hitting Hornady LeverLution (260gr) ammo. Both are extremely effective against any size game in North America. I highly recommend this to any hunter seeking a big bore lever action rifle. This rifle has exceeded my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Marlin 45/70 The gun is well made. It is a big caliber gun so it is heavy. If this is your first big gun go practice a lot. This gun takes time to get adjusted to. I have used it to shoot a 70 pound javelina at 70 yards. The LeveRevolution 325 grain ammo I used went straight through the animal. A company near Dallas,Tx. makes ammo specifically for this gun up to 504 grains for big game. It is a powerful rifle. Most people see it and admire it right away. I love mine!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the rifle, not the store I love the rifle, it shoots great with Hornady Leverevolution, under 3/4 inch at 100 yards for 3 shots. Can't wait to hunt with it. No issues with alleged poor "Remlin" quality either, the finish is great and so is the wood/metal fit and finish. Beautiful gun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great firearm I have owned a model 1895 for years. It is one of the most accurate rifles I own. It is very durable and the knockdown power of this caliber is awesome. It is reliable and has never failed me in any kind of conditions. It is one of the easiest calibers to reload. I have never lost a deer that was hit anywhere near the vitals. This is not a long range rifle but for under 200 yards it is one of the most lethal combinations out there. Immediate knock downs are the norm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Marlin Model 1895 Classic Rifle You just can't go wrong with a Marlin. They are well made and have proven overtime they are one of the leaders, if not the leader in lever action guns. Holding the 1895 to your shoulder and looking down the sights takes you back to the days of the real Cowboys, it gives you a sense of nostalgia. I own 5 Marlins and wouldn't part with any of them.

Could this same configuration (ie. pistol grip and 22 inch barrel) be available in 45 Colt caliber

Asked by: Gravedigger
No. Marlin does not make a rifle with this configuration in a .45 LC at this time. The closest they have is the 1894 Cowboy, but it has a straight-grip stock. http://marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/Cowboy/1894_45Colt.asp

What is the real difference between the 45/70 and the 444 ? Bullit weight , knock down power , High & low loads , etc.

Asked by: none
The .45-70 govt has more knock down power. The 444 's largest bullet is 300gr and the .lein45-70 starts at 300gr and goes up to 500gr.
