Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product My husband and I are avid grillers and love camping and cooking outside. We absolutely love our new Dutch Oven. It's easy to pack up and take with you anywhere, or just to pull out of the cabinet and use at home. An entire meal using only 1 pot! I can put this on my stove top at home or over an open fire at a campsite. No scrubbing for hours to clean it either! We just refuse to spend hundreds of dollars on stainlees steel sets that never cook evenly, food sticks to, and specific cleaning guidelines have to be followed when we can make a simple and affordable purchase with Gander Mountain for all of our cast iron cookware needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cast iron cookware, period. Perfect camp stew & a pineapple upside down cake first time out.We own about 8 or 9 pieces of lodge, some about 20 years old.We looked all over two cities for a second camp dutch oven. All thats available locally is off brand from china. [$] for 12" oven looks good until you see it out of the box. Then you order the good stuff. Our lodge has always heated evenly, fried and baked great with very little attention from the cook. The only cookware I take camping. Some list heavy as a con.Hey,it's CAST IRON. You get what you pay for is not a cliche!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bigger size for stews and many campers! I've used both this and the 4 quart size over a portable grill with an open fire, and also with charcoal brickettes and just embers from a wood fire. You can stack the embers on the lid and beneath for quick, even cooking. Easy to clean with hot water and a scraper, and then lightly oil the surface. A rusty one can easily be restored. NO SOAP ever on any cast iron, of course. This is the one piece of cookware that always goes with us camping. Keep one for fireplace cooking and use it instead of the oven in the winter at home!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE MY DUTCH OVEN I absolutely love my new dutch oven. I cooked Chicken and Dumplings and Monkey Break (Cinnamon, Sugar, Butter, Bisquits). Both turned out amazing. :) I felt like I did something primal by cooking over the fire. The monkey bread was even cooked in a bundt pan sitting inside of the dutch oven. Pretty neat if you ask me. I highly recommend getting the heavy duty oven mits as my one from my kitchen got burned by touching the coals on the lid. DUH !! What was I thinking its not a kitchen oven.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only dutch oven you'll ever need! With a little tlc this will be the last dutch oven you and your children and their children and their children...get the picture? will ever need. From cobblers to lasagna to swiss steak! if you can make it at home you can make it in a Lodge Dutch Oven at camp! just a few extra minutes after each use, and before storage, will keep this DO around for many years and generations. I use Lodge products camping with my scout troop, family camping and at home!! I won't buy any other cast iron!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Making a complete meal in one pot How does one make Chicken Pesto Lasagna, Fresh Biscuits and Apple Crisp while hunting in the wilderness of Wyoming? I brought this 6 qt Dutch Oven. I made the biscuits and apple crisp first and then while the pot was still hot, I lined it with foil and made a great dinner. The clean up was a snap with the foil. The next night we made pepperoni and sausage pizzas and Domino's didn't deliver. Whatever you can make in an oven at home, you can make in a dutch oven. Before I left, I practiced at home and fed all my friends. This way I had the chance of learning how to use the charcoals and what the right amount of top coals and bottom coals should be. Practice is the key to the proper use and enjoyment of these camp cooking tools. P.S. Chocolate cake is also easy to make and great to eat while in the woods!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grab Your Kids and Get Baking Since I work with Cub Scouts, I was looking for another piece of cooking equipment to add to the arsenal. Everyone recommends the dutch oven, so I picked this one up. It was great from the first time I made a simple dump cake to pot roast. I know that with more practice and experience I will enjoy this piece even more. I would recommend a lid lifter so you don't burn yourself. It keeps the coals from falling into your dish.

They have been in business for a long time and their cast iron is safe to use and free of any toxic substances. This oven is smooth and well made. It will last forever!
