Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Basic Gun i bought this gun as a range gun and to take with me when I hunt and fish with out having to worry about losing it in the water. It is a good basic gun, so far it shoots well with no jams or mis-fires and is reasonably accurate. Due to its design it is a bit heavy and on the large size so it is not ideal CCW, however at the range the extra weight seems to buffer the recoil making it easy to shoot. My 13 year odl son was able to shoot it with out any issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Low Budget Handgun I enjoy shooting this firearm at the range. I have found it to be very accurate there, and have had no misfires. I feel it would be a good home defense weapon. I do carry but could not carry this one. It is too heavy and bulky for concealment. I do carry it hunting as a finishing gun. Would be a good first large handgun, and there is not many drawbacks for a gun at this price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hi-Point Model 45 hand gun Gander Mountain helped me out with no problem. I wanted a gun just to play around at the range with and not have to mortage my home to pay for it. If your looking for fancy you will have to spend more money . If your looking for a nice hand gun to shoot then under 200$ it is a nice gun,, you get what you pay for .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mine works great I hear the occasional "It jams every round" comments and just laugh.. they probly never actually owned one. 400 rounds so far and no jams yet. and if it did jam, i would just send it in, since it will ALWAYS be under warranty. and the price is very hard to beat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent purchase. I would buy it again My basic use is at the range. Shooting gives me an opportunity to let go and relax. In spite of reading some negative reviews on the internet, I find this weapon to be very accurate and reliable. It is a little bit heavy but I feel that this adds to the accuracy of the weapon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 380,9mm,40,45 it is what it is a good reliable inexspensive gun good for just about anything but is on the heavy side but i will say it is accurate .although would not recommend for ccw it is fairly heavy.

Is this firearm particular about the type of ammo, or will it shoot anything?

Asked by: jvar59
The Hi-Point JHP Handgun is not particular about ammunition, but I always recommend using a good name brand ammo to avoid any potential issues.

I have large palms and short fingers. The S&W Shield and M&P both fit me perfectly. Wondering if my hand will fit this gun? Any comments about relative fit and dexterity would be helpful. Thanks.
