Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of junk At first sight It looked promising, but it was misleading when I took it out of the packaging I felt it in my hands and was like OH NO! It is very flimsy the rubber grip handle is great until you sweat and then its not so good. Went to cut some branches off trees and through some brush it bounced a lot even when held the right way it would do this. save your money and don't buy this piece of junk unless you just want it for weeds and really thin tree branches or not so thick brush! Not to mention again how flimsy it is do not cut over anything 1 inch thick it will break no lie. The saw was nice though, wish it was built more better will be returning.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the money. I've been an avid outdoorsman for over 30 years and used many brush clearing tools. I have a 25 year old machete that is easily twice as strong as this one from Gerber. The metal is so weak that it deforms on impact of hard wood or the occasional small stone if you accidentally hit the ground. The metal is so soft that it dulls very quickly after a short time of trail blazing or brush clean up. The saw is ok, but really only good for making kindling, anything larger will give you tennis elbow. Save your money and buy a thicker bladed alternative. Surprised Gerber made such a shoddy product. They should rename this from Gator to Geko.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tool Bought about a month ago. To the people that said its junk: i've cut branches up to 4 inches thick, just took a few swings. only thing is that if you don't wear gloves the grip will give you a bad blister on your thumb, well it did for me anyway.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Many Seasons in the Field I used this for several seasons as a land surveyor cutting line. It is a decent knife. It can take a nice edge. Doesn't slip like plastic when grip is wet. Good carrying but could use an extra inch or two and the weight of the extra length. Good 1st machete for a fulltime worker look for more length/weight. Saw is actually functionally in a pinch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good machete! I grew up in the tropics using a machete. This one works better than the majority of machetes I've ever used. Now I use my Gerber Gator for my property maintenance side business. Great weight balance. The wrist cord feature is excellent. The only thing is the handguard can be a little painful depending on how you hold it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Machete This is a great machete. I'm using it to clear off some land and it works wonders. Everything form pine to oak. The handle get a little looses form the cutting but its easy to tighten. The sheath isent the best, ripped after a few days wearing it. But still a great tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FANTASTIC This machete is SO good. People say that it may break if you swing at a log that's like 4 inches thick. Obviously!! All machetes are made for brush and things an inch or under. It even says so on the warning!!! Besides, I've chopped things over 2 inches. The saw is amazing and the real machete is amazing as well! I've chopped through like 30 branches in one hard swing. It is so lightweight and super strong! I've spent probably 2 hours playing with it already and it's only been like 2 days since I've got it. If you want the best machete, GET THIS ONE!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Tool This tool worked well on clearing brush and shrubby undergrowth up to 1.25 inches thick. The edge comes sharp enough to cut through most vegetative material and woody saplings. I have not tried the sawtooth edge to cut as of yet. The handle is comfortable and the tool cleaned up easily after use. The tool did not cut through larger diameter dried grass as well as I had hoped or I would have rated it 5 stars.
