Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does exactly what a 30-30 is supposed to. Great medium range deer ammo.Consistantly accurate. I shot a average size whitetail buck this year at a ranged 142 yards.Broad side shot made a neat groove on the top of the heart and hit low through both lungs.Complete pass-through. 1 rib on entry side and 2 ribs on exit. The buck ran about 25 yards and collapsed.Although my average shot is usually well under 100 yards the results are always the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Controlled Expansion I shot a small doe with the 150 grain bullet and she dropped in her tracks. Nice entry and exit wound, complete pass thru. Not much damage to the meat, just the vitals. Will use this ammunition on future hunts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One ragged hole at 100 yards My rifle shoots the 170 grain 30-30 ammunition into one ragged hole at 100 yards. Nothing else that I've tried, including hand loads, has been able to match this performance. Now, if you'd just drop the price to about $9 a box, I'll stop hand loading 30-30.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small Mule Deer Buck at 50 Yards Heart shot, exited on far shoulder. Broke shoulder on exit and complete pass through. Buck dropped immediately. Minimal meat damage. A reliable hunting load. After seeing this, I have the confidence to use it on elk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Accurate and Deadly! I bought two boxes of 170gr last year for the up-coming season, it shot great. I killed two bucks and a 300lb black bear. one of the bucks I shot at 180 yards and it dropped in its tracks and was a complete pass through. The black bear ran 50 yards with complete pass through and the second buck ran 20yrds with complete pass through. great round, went back to buy every box they had.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bullet drop back into casing i purchased some 170 gr, 30-30 soft point and i must say i was very dissapointed, the actual bullet itself would drop back into the shell casing. first shells i ever had this happen with. its like the bullet itself is not seated tight enough in the casing. not very impressed

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bullet not seated properly After unloading my 30-30 one evening (after a day of deer hunting), I found one of the bullets had sunk into the casing quite a ways. I am not sure if this is dangerous or not but I've not had that happen with any other brand of bullet in 35 years of shooting. This was a few years ago and I've not had it happen since.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome performance I hunt with a 30/30 perfect for scrubby Michigan woods i only use Federal ammunition and i couldn't be happier every deer i have hit with the federal has dropped!! it surprises me to this day that the mild .30/30 can do that. But the damage that the soft point slug dishes out it's no wonder and i always find it under the skin on the far side so no lack of penetration either.
