Additional Information
The Eskimo Pistol Bit is undeniably the best power drill auger accessory available. Its high-strength polymer flight sections and cutting head keep the auger lighter than the competition while maintaining their integrity in sub-zero temperatures. A hexagonal aluminum inner tube keeps the auger flight sections oriented correctly and transfers power to the cutting head efficiently. The Pistol Bit also cuts faster and smoother thanks to the two replaceable flat steel blades.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice light auger I bought an 8" pistol bit and its nice and lightweight. I run it with a Milwaukee 2804 and 5.0 ah battery. The whole setup weighs right at 10lbs. It cuts great and haven't had any problems. The only thing I would change is i wish they added a center point. When starting a hole you have to start slow, a bit of downward force helps prevent the auger from walking as well. If this had a center point id rate it 5/5 but as is id say 3/5. I'm happy with it but i wouldn't let someone else borrow it for fear they could have it walk when beginning a hole and end up cutting their foot. I like it but it could be so much better with a center point.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightand super fast Great product. Drill fast and has the disc on top, just in case it becomes detached from drilling device. Light weight as well and true 8 inch hole. Had the kdrill but returned it. Seemed like the kdrill just bullied through the ice. Eskimo Bit shaves the ice nicely. The only downside is that the Eskimo Bit does not have a center point(which is why I only give the Eskimo Bit 4 stars) so unlike the kdrill it will slide some. Overall I am glad I purchased the Eskimo Bit. Hopefully they come up with a center point add on, if possible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect auger for a short person! I bought this auger bit to replace a gas-powered auger I purchased used, not realizing how difficult using a power auger almost as tall as me would be. Add this to the difficulty of starting it, and the only obvious choice was the eskimo 8" auger pistol bit! It's shorter, lighter and much easier to use! My only regret was the choice I made on the drill. Trust me guys; spend a little more and get a Dewalt Drill! Much better chuck performance than other brands, who will remain nameless in this review! (they're green!)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great auger This is really great auger, very light weight even with extension installed. Not much torque on the drill compared to most other augers. Not catching at the bottom of the hole, can't even tell it. I gave it a 4 star rating because of a couple of things. One- there is not enough room between the disk and the drill chuck, it is hard to get a good grip on the chuck. Two- I would like to see a point in the center of the blades so it does not walk around on rough ice. Fix these to things and I would give it 10 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pistol Rules I bought the 8" Pistol back in October when first available. Early ice in December through now (end of February) the pistol has performed outstanding. The pistol has replaced a 8" K-drill which really cut only a 7½" diameter hole. My Pistol is coupled to a Milwaukee Mud-Mixer with a Quik-Lok Chuck. The Eskimo 8" Pistol is possibly the finest Ice-Hole cutting tool on Mother-Earth. Hopefully next years model Eskimo "Pistol-2" will have a center-power-point allowing overlapping hole cutting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the money I have used the 6 and 8" models now and really like both of them . I'm happy with the number of holes you can get with the shaver blades . Thing is super light and cuts like a dream. Very happy with it so far. However I wish the drill chuck connector piece was longer , it can make tightening the chuck for difficult . And I wish there was a point to center the auger on to the ice so it didn't walk as much when starting a hole.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little auger The pistol bit is extremely light and cuts through the ice like butter. I have not found any retailers near me that carry the extension and you do have to get the hole started to prevent it from “walking” on you but overall this thing is great. I have heard rumors of a retrofit for a center spike coming out for next year that will alleviate the “walking” issue. If that is so I would give a 5 star rating.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, could be great If this was priced under $150 it would be awesome. However at over $200 it seems to be missing a center bit which makes it impossible to reopen holes and nearly impossible to use on glare ice. Also the plastic ring at the top seems very "homemade", but I guess it is functional. All in it is much better than using a gas auger and I'd never go back, but will be on a lookout for Gen 2 of this product.
