Very Good
Needs to identify that a 5 pin connector for the tow vehicle and the trailer, readily available, is needed because of the fact the brake solenoid for backing up uses the back up light of the vehicle. Should be offered as additional accessory to the kit.

Good...but
Easy to install and the brakes work well but you must replace the rubber brake lines with steel. The rubber expands under pressure and really saps the braking effectiveness. One you have steel line in place they work great.

New Brakes On An Old Trailer
Product is well packaged and installation is straightforward. Only issue is line fittings have loose tolerances so tricky to tighten correctly and achieve no leaks.

I am wanting to install brakes on a trailer that has not had brakes previously. On a tandem axle should the brakes be mounted on the front or rear axle? Should additional brakes be placed on the other axle? The parts listing shows two 24 inch brake lines. Are other brake lines that would run from the actuator to a "T" and crossover brake lines included? If not could these be purchased locally or made up by the installer?
Hello Tom, Most trailers in the US only have brakes on the front axle. However, depending on the sizes of the trailer and state regulations, some trailers require all axles to have brakes. It's always best to check your state laws. All brake lines needed are included for a single axle installation. If you decides to add brakes on the rear axle, you will need an add on kit (Overton's item # 74058). We also offer brake line kits for single axle and double axles trailers (Overton's item # 74057 and 74059). You will need to make sure the axles have brake flanges already installed (most do). If not, then you will need to have someone weld them on. Thank you, Steve
