Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for camping I bought this unit 2 years ago for camping. Cooking in the travel trailer isn't nearly as fun as cooking outside. My previous trailer had an outside barbecue and I wanted to expand what I could cook outside. Is difficult to get level, however I bought the adjustable screw down legs and that problem was solved. I have a family of 5 and often camp with extended family. So being able to quickly cook a ton of food is a must. The burners are very powerful and quickly boil large pots of water. Almost too fast, the first time I used it, I wasn't sure what to expect and almost boiled off the water before the pasta was done cooking. I have the griddle and the barbecue accessories and cook exclusively on this when camping. The travel trailer stove has never been used.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Pleased with Stove and Options Purchased this unit for our kids for Christmas. Chose it because of its high ratings for dependability. Wanted something that would stand up to years of use and is not broken beyond repair due to accidents in normal course of use. We like the power and versitility of the unit as it is something that they (or we) can add too. Wanted something able to serve those who do like to cook in the rustic camp setting, but could also be used at home for cookouts and/or canning. Liked the removable leg to provide table top option. Adjustable legs appear designed to last. Unit is pretty heavy, so wouldn't want to have to pack it too far from the vehicle. Thanks Camp Chef

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stove! Terrific stove. I have one packed for camping and another on the counter in my music studio for coffee, tea, lunch, etc. Going to pick up another for the back porch, next to the gas grill. This is a fine outdoor cooking stove. And you can hose it down afterwards. This is particularly convenient because young Boy Scouts are sloppy cooks. :) Canning fruit and making applesauce outdoors is so convenient because you can be messy, not worry about slopping boiling water on the stove or apple juices getting on the floor by the press that is clamped to the counter top, etc. and the cleanup is just a hose away. Plus it's easier handle larger cook pots when they are lower than the normal stove height.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product!! It's nice to know that there still are products available that not only meet but exceed your expectations. This is one of those products. We are caterers and cooking competitors and this stove is EXACTLY what we needed. Compact and sturdy when assembled. No tricks. The wind guards around the burners allow you to turn the heat down to a simmer and not blow out. The burner is perfect for low and high heat. Boils a BIG pot of corn in no time, heats oil for fish frying perfectly, yet can be cut back for making griddle eggs and pancakes. I can't say enough good things about this product!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keep the heat out of the kitchen! I bought this so that I can cook or boil food items that either heat up my kitchen or stink up the house. Example, sautМ© green peppers and onions, boil corn on the cob, steam crabs or boil potatoes. I have also used a cast iron Dutch oven to roast a chicken with beautiful results. I have a gas grill that I use all the time but this camp stove gives more versatility. It can easily hold 2 large pots or pressure cookers- Can't wait to canning season to start! I have the stove on my concrete patio, which is slightly tilted to keep the water draining away from the house. Having the adjustable legs allowed me to level the stove perfectly. I am very pleased with my purchase. Now that I have it I have added the BBQ box on my wish list. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent camping stove I spent the last ten days camping with my family and this stove was used several times a day for cooking and making coffee. It only blew out once from the wind and I had on the wind screen, but other than that minor issue it worked great. From bacon and eggs to steak on the camp chef grill and several fish fry's, we were well fed and with no problems. I recommend with no reservations, but I would put extenders on the legs to bring it up a few inches. I followed another reviewers advice and it made a difference. Fantastic purchase! I also use this unit at home and highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! We bought this cook stove to can - and yesterday I canned 52 qt. and 47 pt. of peaches. Some on my kitchen stove (gas) and some on the Explorer Double Burner - the double burner was by far the better stove to can on! The water heated up within 10 minutes to boiling....my kitchen stove took 20 to 30 minutes to get to boiling. The double burner kept a nice even temp. throughout the canning process (30 minutes for qt., 25 for pt.). We're very happy with this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from STURDY STOVE I camp in the Eastern High Sierra's in California and have only used my Camp Chef once. I placed it at the end of the table without the four legs as I am tall and it was easier for me to cook as it was higher. It fit perfectly on the table's end. It was sturdy which, is essential for boiling hot water and of course cooking with grease. The burners have a powerful thrust which made cooking much faster than other camp stoves I have used. One other great feature is that it is wide enough to accomodate two large frying pans simultaneously. I highly recommend the Camp Cheft.

Is there a weight limit on things cooked on it? I make my own beer and would be boiling 7 to 10 gallons of beer at one time? will this stove be sturdy enough to hold that kind of weight?

Asked by: jim
I was looking for the same thing and it would work however it would take a long time to reach and maintain a boil with the 30,000 BTU burner. I bought one for camping (and absolutely love it) - and then went to my local brew store and purchased a 150,000 BTU single burner for less than half the price. Single burner 150,000 BTU cut my brew time in half and was well worth the $55.

Does this have auto ignite or does it need to be started with a match or lighter?

Asked by: Anonymous
This does not have an igniter. You will have to manually light the burner.

I am wanting to use this to pressure can and I will be using a 16 quart presto pressure cooker, will this stove hold the weight? It will be used extensively.

Asked by: Chuck
yes, I wouldn't hesitate to use a 16 qt pressure cooker.. I used a "turkey fryer pot" on one burner with 64 pounds of chili in it for hours on end and another 24 qt pot full of water on the other burner.

Where are the sideshelves (2) for the above? I have them but can't find any more for my friend. the closest store is no help.

Asked by: Buddy
Unfortunately we do not have them online yet, hopefully we will be stocking them in the very near future. We do offer them in our retail stores, however each store has access to their own inventory. If we didn't have it in the store, contacting Camp Chef directly might be the only to get them right now.
