Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best transom saver I've ever had I am 67 years old and have been a boat operator for about 58 years and and owner for over 40 years. I have owned several makes and styles of boats. All of them have had transom savers as I believe in them. This is absolutely the best construction and easiest to use that I have ever had. On most savers, you have to get down on your hands and knees to attach it to the keel roller or the holder on the trailer frame. Not this one - you can stand back, place it in its receptacle hole, twist it, and you're ready to go. [...]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Thought it was a good buy I've been using this product for about 18 months. I only leave installed when trailering, rinse thoroughly after each trip and store it inside when not in use. The last section has all but broken in two at one of the adjustment holes. Will try to weld it and see what happens. Won't be buying another one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easy To Use Once It's Installed Once this unit is installed, it works very well, and is easy to put on and take off. However, I found the mounting bracket (which didn't come with a mounting bolt) to be very sloppy, with the slot having too much clearance for the support. I fabricated a new mounting plate with a tighter slot (it fits flat against the frame member), and that eliminated a lot of the rattle and sloppiness. Once that issue was solved, the unit adjusted easily and works as advertised. The bungee cord that came with the unit was too long and had weak hooks. I use a ratchet strap for a nice firm tie-down. The fork that cradles the motor could be a bit beefier too. I can see trouble down the road with it, and foresee some more re-work in my future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Price [...] This Transom Saver works perfectly for me. It was easy to install (drill one 3/8" hole), easy to adjust and is easy to put on and take off. Includes everything you need to install and use. The rubber strap included was too long to fit tight on my 115 Merc so I bought a shorter one (12") for $1.25. The mechanism that allows easy on and off also works to hold the motor down. I wish I had installed this item a long time ago BEFORE I noticed the cracks in my transom. This holds the motor steady and transfers the weight to the trailer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Adjustable transom saver - not the best design The product is well-built / solid but when set up to the correct length for my trailer & motor combo it was hard to engage in the mounting bracket as the transom saver hits the ground to get it started. I've had others where you only have to engage it at a 90 degree angle, but this one requires a full 180 degrees and with my trailer frame this puts it too close to the ground - I'm sure it works well with other configurations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again. Would be 5 stars if not for the securing rubber strap. I installed the strap, walked to my work shop, came back and the strap had already broken. Luckily I did some research before buying and this is a common occurence, so I expected it to happen. Would not have been good if it broke while driving down the road. I think the company should invest in a better quality material for the strap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from […] This transom saver is very easy to install. Very easy to put on and take off and easy to adjust. Rubber strap included was too long for my 115 HP Merc so I bought a 12" rubber strap from Harbor Freight for $1.25. I should have purchased this item a long time ago BEFORE I noticed cracks in my transom. Pictures seemed to indicate the item was black power coated but it arrived zinc plated.

Asked by: Anonymous
There is plenty of play, at least 1 foot on the one I bought (same unit but with the 1" travel shock)
